LARUT: The membership of Titi Serong assemblyman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is now pending a probe on whether he supported the vote of confidence on the Perak Menteri Besar on December 4.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said it is enshrined in the party’s constitution that any member found not toeing party line would automatically have his or her membership dropped.

“Maybe after this, Perak Umno would send evidence to us (that Hasnul Zaulkarnain did not support the motion).

If it is proven, it automatically comes into effect. We have taken similar actions at national level, there is no exception at division or state level,” he said.

He told reporters after presenting food baskets of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia’s Friends of Larut in Selama near here yesterday.

Several news portals quoting Hasnul Zulkarnain as saying that he was waiting for a decision by Bersatu after being accused of rejecting the vote of confidence on Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Menteri Besar on December 4.

Hasnul Zulkarnain joined Bersatu on June 3. Before that, he was an Independent assemblyman after leaving Amanah on March 9 following the political realignment in Perak that month itself which saw Perikatan Nasional (PN) taking over the administration from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Apart from that, Hamzah who is Larut MP in his article in a local daily proposed a formal charter to symbolise the coalition of PN, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) based on facts and declared stands.

“When I moot it, nobody can accuse me of raising issues like the small eating the big as there are responsibilities for each party to come together,” he said.
