Bursa to honour top performers at Bursa Excellence Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd will be hosting the Bursa Excellence Awards 2018 on April 9, 2019, to honour and recognise last year’s top performing brokers and market intermediaries.

It said the sixth edition of the annual award, themed “Outthinking, Outlasting, Outstanding”, would see a total of 18 awards categories honouring participating organisations and individuals who helped build the capital market across the three segments of equities, derivatives and the Islamic capital market.

“The event will be graced by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng,” it said.

Chief executive officer Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said the award symbolised the exchange’s appreciation of the important role brokers and market intermediaries play in the advancement of the capital market.

“This annual celebration also serves to foster a sense of camaraderie among the broking community and inspire market participants to keep on achieving higher targets in growing the capital market together,” he said.

Last year, Bursa Malaysia launched the Mini FTSE Bursa Malaysia Mid 70 Index Futures Contract, the first mini-futures contract on the derivatives market.

“This is gaining traction thanks to the support of brokers to create awareness for the product and raise the investor’s interest.

“This paves the way for further expansion in the equity derivatives product suite and enhanced vibrancy in the capital market,” it said.
