SANDAKAN: Police in Sandakan have been asked to take part in more ‘turun padang’ programmes and events to get closer to the local community, regardless of their position in the police force.

Sandakan district police chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said this would not only strengthen the relationship between police force and local community, but also could be a platform for a two-way interaction between the two parties in eradicating crimes in Sandakan.

Azhar was speaking to personnel at Sandakan Headquarters Police Station (IPD) here during the PDRM Sandakan monthly meeting.

He also advised the police to maintain the image of PDRM at all times, including when they are on social media and when they are wearing uniform.

Meanwhile, he revealed that Sandakan police had achieved 60.63 per cent crime solving rate from January to November 25, 2018.

He said that he was confident that this statistics could be improved by the end of the year.

The meeting ended with police personnel and five media representatives receiving appreciation certificate from IPD Sandakan.
