Mahathir wins Sarawak Bintang Patriotik song contest
KUCHING: Mahathir Zailani emerged victorious in the Sarawak Bintang Patriotik singing competition organised by the Malaysian Information Department, at Mydin Vista Tunku Hypermarket, Petra Jaya yesterday.
He took home a RM500 voucher and hamper sponsored by Mydin, after his winning renditions of 'Melati di Tapal Batas' and 'Rayuan Maut'.
In second place was Zayed Rizal, winning a RM350 voucher and hamper, with his songs 'Warisan' (compulsory) and Dia (own choice).
Nur Hijrah Yahya took third place and won a RM200 voucher and a hamper. She presented 'Pahlawan' (conpulsory) and 'Kuteruskan' (own choice).
The other five finalists-Hamirol Hamid, Efendi Jemat, Rina Ramlee, Seniah Merikan and Sharifah Hanifah Tengku Imam each received a voucher worth RM100 and a Mydin hamper.
Sharifah Hanifah also won the best performance award of RM100 voucher and hamper.
The Bintang Patriotik singing competition is part of the MyMerdeka "Sanyangi Malaysiaku" programme organised by the Information Department and Mydin Hypermarket in conjunction with National Month 2018 held simultaneously at five Mydin locations in Penang, Selangor, Perak, Johor and Sarawak.
It aims to foster patriotism among Malaysians and create harmony among the people.
Also present at the competition was Mydin Sarawak district manager Sutaghani Ahmad Zaidoll, and Sarawak Information Department visual communications and graphics division director Mohd Roffee Mohamad.
