GPS registration: It’s all about waiting, says CM
KUCHING: The registration of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is just a matter of time, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to Abang Johari who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president, there has been no objection to the setting up of GPS.
He was optimistic that GPS' application to register the coalition with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) had been given due consideration.
He pointed this out at a press conference after chairing the PBB supreme council meeting at the party's headquarters here yesterday.
Abang Johari said it was "normal processing" when prompted for the latest on the status of GPS.
"Now just waiting only," he added.
On Aug 23, the Chief Minister told reporters that "we just need the official letter" when asked about the official formation of GPS after launching an event at PBB Satok branch here.
"We will launch (GPS) lah, wait lah. Wait for the time," he said.
The new coalition was supposed to be officially launched last July 22 in conjunction with the celebration of Sarawak Day.
Abang Johari had announced on June 12 the formation of GPS when PBB, Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) quit Barisan Nasional (BN) after the 14th general election.
