Former MP Yussof rallies behind Rozman as BN candidate

-

LABUAN: Former Labuan member of parliament Datuk Yussof Mahal has voiced support for incumbent Datuk Rozman Isli to defend the Barisan Nasional (BN) seat in the 14th general election (GE14).

He said Rozman’s candidacy would help ensure victory for BN with a growing majority due to the strong support of Labuan BN component parties and the people on the duty-free-island.

“Being a former MP, I openly support Rozman’s candidacy as BN candidate for the GE13 for the continuation of the development and unity of the multiracial community in Labuan.

“I am optimistic with the attention and development brought by the federal government to Labuan will help a big win for Rozman representing the BN this time,” he said yesterday.

Yussof said BN had a proven track record in the development of Labuan since it was elevated as one of the federal territories.

“Many of our requests to the federal government have been fulfilled and that being enjoyed by the people in Labuan; we are confident Labuanites will benefit continuously by ensuring the BN government continues govern the country after the GE13,” he added.

He said Labuan was never marginalized by the BN-led federal government, thus logical to continue supporting BN in this GE14.

“We requested to higher learning institutions, now we have the Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) and Labuan Matriculation College (KML), we want economic and business activities and employment opportunities, Labuan has become international financial center and oil and gas hub, we want a bridge to Sabah, the implementation study is being completed.

“It is undeniable Labuan is experiencing a slight economic slowdown following the slump in global oil prices, and this is beyond the federal government control, and we know this is only temporary and we have noticed there has been an increase in the oil and gas sector activity on the island.

He said the economic slowdown was also fought by BN candidate and the island had not been neglected.

“Therefore, I hope the Labuan people, especially voters will turn out on the polling day on May 9 for BN candidate,” he said.
