Better if manifesto is more detailed, says political analyst

KUCHING: Political analyst Dr Nadrawina Isnin opines that the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) Manifesto is attractive and attributes it to the people of Sarawak.

According to her, what is interesting in the manifesto is that it seeks to protect the right of Sarawakians in terms of education and scholarships, improving the quality of life of the people, social and economic assistance for the people and ensuring the people’s right to their land.

The manifesto also seeks to enhance rural transformation, new opportunities for sustainable development and prosperity, employment and business opportunities for youth, women and entrepreneurs, good governance and integrity.

Nadrawina who is a Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, UiTM Sarawak Kampus Samarahan says that it would be better if the manifesto is more detailed.

“For example, if you want to improve the quality of life of the people, how can you do so? Does it mean by giving jobs to the people or whether to give a piece of land for the people to work on or to get help from those who can help?

“In terms of improving the rural transformation, what is this form of improvement? Which area is specified? The rural areas were not mentioned,” she added when interviewed yesterday.

Thus, Nadrawina explains that it is best for a manifesto to be openended, providing complete and substantive information for the understanding of all voters.

Despite commenting so, she said that party candidates could still present their manifesto during campaigning time and use it as a platform to explain further to voters.
