PBDSB to announce candidates after screening is done

-

KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) says it will announce its candidates for the 14th general election (GE14) after it has done with the screening process.

Its election director Rapelson Richard Hamit said the party is now in the final stage of screening its list of potential candidates.

He stressed that contribution to society would take precedence over personal interests during the screening process.

Rapelson, who is also PBDSB youth chief, said those who are not nominated should not try to sabotage the selected ones but to work hard to campaign for the party’s candidates.

“PBDSB is the only local Dayak-based opposition party and therefore we must work together by working hard in order to win the seats for the party and the Dayak communities,” he said in a statement.

He pointed out that PBDSB has full autonomy in determining its own candidates, saying they do not need the consent of anybody in Peninsular Malaysia to issue letters of appointment to their candidates.

“It has been proven in previous elections, we are not tied to Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan,” he added.

PBDSB expressed the same view with many Malaysians who criticised the Election Commission for fixing the polling day on May 9, a Wednesday.

Rapelson suggested that voting should be held on Saturday.
