PBS holds Chinese New Year walkabout in Tenom
TENOM: The government’s efforts to unite the multi-racial and multi-religious people in the state, especially in this area, involve the cooperation of all races, Rural Development Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Radin Malleh, said.
He said the power sharing concept of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government provides opportunities for all races, including the Chinese community, to participate in various development programs in Sabah, especially in this district.
Radin said, political stability has enabled the government to implement various socioeconomic development programs to enhance the well-being of the multi-ethnic people in the state.
Therefore, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) CNY Walkabout program in conjunction with Chinese New Year, held annually by the party, will further enhance understanding among party leaders and strengthen unity among the multi-racial communities in Sabah.
The solid support of the Chinese community on government programs is important for continuation of the state’s progress, said the PBS vice-president.
Radin, who is also Melalap assemblyman, said this to the media after the PBS CNY Walkabout Program organized by PBS Melalap in collaboration with the urban community committee (JKDB) in Tenom here yesterday.
The PBS delegation led by PBS president cum Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, included PBS deputy president, Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, PBS secretarygeneral, Datuk Johnny Mositun, Tenom member of parliament, Datuk Raimi Unggi, Senator Datuk Dr. Lucas Umbul, district officer, Madiyem Layapan, and community leaders.
Pairin also launched two giant lanterns at Malleh Square in Tenom town as a gimmick for the launching of the PBS CNY Walkabout program.
