Najib to visit rural Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is making a two-day working visit to Sabah from today until Jan 19.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who announced this yesterday, said the Prime Minister's visit manifests his concern for the well-being of the people in the state.

Despite being busy with his other official duties and responsibilities, Najib still spent his time going down to the ground to feel the pulse of the people in the state, he said.

"Sabah has never been marginalised by the Federal Government, but has always been given due attention under the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib).

"Many programmes and development projects are being implemented (in Sabah) for the benefit and well-being of the people," he said.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, would visit several areas in the state, namely Penampang, Nabawan and Kota Marudu.

According to Musa, Najib's visit would certainly create huge impact and benefits for the people in the state.

For example, he said, Najib's visit to Kota Marudu to officially open the new building of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandau was proof that the Prime Minister was concerned about Sabah's education and the comfort of children in Sabah in the aspect of education.

He also pointed out that Najib is serious in developing quality human capital in the state.

For the record, SMK Bandau was established in 2000 but the school was squatting in a building at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ongkilan. Only in March 2014, SMK Bandau began using their own new school building.

"The construction of the new Health Clinic in Nabawan is proof the Prime Minister had delved into the hearts of the rural people who need good healthcare facilities," Musa said.

He said the Prime Minister would officiate at the opening of Nabawan Health Clinic building and thereafter attend the meet-thepeople session at Nabawan Square, with about 8,000 people from the district expected to attend.

Musa said the Prime Minister had wanted to visit the district in August last year but because of inevitable matters, he could not attend at that time.

"So this time, the number one leader is fulfilling his desire to meet the people in this area," he said.

Musa invited the public to come to the program, which will start at 8 am on Friday.

The Chief Minister yesterday visited Nabawan Square where Najib will meet the people and open the district health clinic.

Musa also looked at the construction of a cultural house that was being built at the District Council compound here.

Also present during Musa's visit were State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, Pensiangan Umno Division chief Senator Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin, Assistant Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Bobby Ahfang Suan, District Officer Fredian Gan and PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup.
