Trader charged with forging diploma certificat­e, academic transcript

KUALA LUMPUR: A trader was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with four counts of forging Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Business Studies diploma certificat­e and academic transcript, three month ago.

Shafizal Khalil, 36, however, pleaded not guilty after all the charges under Section 465 of the Penal Code were read to him before Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som.

On the first and second counts, the man was alleged to have forged the diploma certificat­e, producing one with the university’s seal and another one without the seal, with the intention to support a claim applicatio­n for nominee Mohd Hafizi Ahmad, 29.

On the third and fourth counts, Shafizal was alleged to have forged the transcript for the diploma programme, by changing the important parts in the document, with the intention to support a claim applicatio­n for Mohd Hafizi, who is a reporter.

The trader was alleged to have committed all the offences at the National Higher Education Fund Corporatio­n (PTPTN) credit recovery section at Level 7 of Menara PTPTN, Block D, Megan Avenue II, No 12 Jalan Yap Kwan Seng here on Aug 7.

If convicted, he could face a maximum jail term of two years or fines, or both, for each offence.

Shafizal was also charged with fraudulent­ly receiving a stolen property in the form of cash of RM1,000 belonging to Mohd Hafizi, knowing that it was a stolen property.

The father of two was alleged to have committed the offence at Kosmo office in Jalan Chan Sow Lin here, at 5.38 pm on Aug 2.

The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code provides a maximum imprisonme­nt of five years or fines, or both, if convicted.

The court allowed Shafizal bail of RM9,000 with one surety and set Dec 7 for remention. - Bernama
