Lefestour good platform for Sabah entrepreneurs — Jainab

-

TAWAU: The Lefestour carnival can be a good platform to enhance marketability of products and services offered by Sabah entrepreneurs, said Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.

She said various products produced by Sabah entrepreneurs have potential markets in the peninsula and Sarawak.

“The Lefestour Carnival in Tawau received encouraging response with about 100,000 people who came to visit some 100 stalls, including 20 operated by Sabah entrepreneurs.

“We hope to involve more Sabah entrepreneurs in future carnivals as we have a number of homestays which can also be promoted,” she told reporters after closing the carnival here.

She suggested that the carnival be organised in the rural areas, including in Kota Marudu, Semporna and Lahad Datu next year.

Meanwhile, Lefestour organising committee chairman, actress Didie Alias, said the carnival would be made an annual event.

“We plan to have the carnival before the Hari Raya celebration next year and we will explore three areas in Sabah before deciding on the venue.

“The response towards Lefestour Tawau was most overwhelming and we hope the people in Sabah will continue to support the carnival, “she said, adding that the carnival was previously held in Kota Kinabalu.
