-

KOTA KINABALU: Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) president, Tan Sri Dr. T.C. Goh, said yesterday that more franchisors are welcome to establish outlets in Sabah.

With the franchisors' experience and recipes, Goh believed that local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially young entrepreneurs, would have a better chance of starting up their own business.

“I believe doing so will bring in more good food to Sabah. This indirectly offers tourists more options in the growing tourism sector in Sabah,” he said, when officiating at the opening of Ah Mah Traditional Homemade Egg Sponge Cake at Lido Square here yesterday.

Goh, who is also the owner of Lido Square, welcomed the setting up of the shop at his premise. He said the food court at Lido Square has become a popular spot in Kota Kinabalu which attracted many tourists.

“I hope tourists who come here will not only enjoy our seafood, but also our cakes and pastries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Perfect Treats Sdn Bhd group chief executive officer, Dr. Jeffrey Goh, said the company has established around 60 Ah Mah Traditional Homemade Egg Sponge Cake outlets in six countries, namely Malaysia, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Cambodia and Thailand, since it started operating in May this year.

According to him, the company has 40 outlets in Malaysia alone. The Lido Square outlet was the second in Sabah, the first opened in Damai two months ago. Jeffrey added that the company planned to establish five outlets in Sabah - three in Kota Kinabalu, one in Sandakan and one in Tawau.
