Baha’is to celebrate 200th anniversary of birth of founder
KOTA KINABALU: Baha’is all over Sabah of various ethnic backgrounds will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i Faith this month.
Baha’is hail from all walks of life. They share a common goal of serving humanity and refining their innerlives in accordance with the teachings of Baha’u’llah.
In a statement by The Secretariat of the External Affairs Department of the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Sabah yesterday, many activities all across the state are being planned including a number of courtesy calls to ministers and religious leaders inviting them to the Bicentenary celebration.
Since the inception of the Baha’i faith in the 19th Century, a growing number of people has found in the teachings of Baha’u’llah a compelling vision of a better world.
“The Baha’i teachings include theological statements about God, as well as social teachings including the equality of all humans, regardless of race and class, the harmony of science and religion, compulsory education, independent search after truth and the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty.
“It lays emphasis on the equality of men and women, the two wings on which the bird of humankind is able to soar,” it said.
The celebration will be held all over Sabah in the month of October this year and the Baha’i community extends an open invitation to the public to come and celebrate this special occasion together.
