Info Dept Labuan to step up NBOS initiatives
LABUAN: The Information Department Labuan will continue to strengthen collaboration with all government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here through the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) initiatives.
Its director Azman Sipan said the implementation of NBOS had not only been successfully fostering the good rapport among the government and community leaders but also helped save public funds.
“We should be thankful to all government agencies, NGOs and community leaders in rendering close cooperation in any of our people’s development programmes throughout the years.
“The collaboration in the areas of allocation and workforce had helped us to organise events successfully,” he said at the Santai Merdeka @ Komuniti here yesterday.
The event, officiated by Labuan Corporation deputy chief executive officer Rithuan Ismail, was attended by government heads and community leaders.
Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Labuan was one of the recipients of a Merdeka Celebration plaque from Labuan Information Department for its cooperation in all the National Day celebration activities.
Rithuan in his speech said the success of the just-concluded National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations was a result of NBOS’ initiative from government agencies.
“Undoubtedly, we can see NBOS has helped the government to be prudent in their spending and save the public fund, we should continue in our future programmes,” he said.
He also said the Komuniti 1Malaysia (K1M) under the Information Department’s strategic partnership programmes had been able to disseminate information on government’s agenda to the people at all level.
“We can also see the newly-set up People’s Representative Council (MPP) roles in working together with village heads in various people’s programmes that help unify the multiracial society on the island,” he said
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in August last year said the government had saved over RM3.5 billion within seven years of implementing the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).
Claiming the success of his brainchild, Najib said Malaysia needed to make a paradigm shift from old policies to one with a “blue ocean” of new opportunities.
