Orphanage for girls to be built in Tawau

-

TAWAU: A two-storey orphanage costing over RM1 million will be built in Kampung Jawa, near SMK Tawau here to accommodate girls while the existing Al-Raudah Orphanage Home at Batu 4, is currently occupied by 21 boys.

Officer-in-charge of AlRaudah Orphanage Home, Haji Ahmad Siong said they had planned to build a new orphanage for girls earlier and although the land has been identified, they are still waiting for approval of the plan from the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC).

Haji Ahmad said the funds were donated by members of the public and construction would begin once the plan had been approved by TMC.

When asked whether the boys at Al-Raudah Orphanage Home would be relocated to the new building, he said it is subject to the decision of members of the committee as the existing AlRaudah Orphanage Home has very limited parking space and is overcrowded.

He said this to the media at the orphanage yesterday while receiving a visit from LTK Recreation Club, Tawau in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Yu Wang Carnival 2017.

The club led by its advisor, Lim Soon Nyap distributed hampers, green packs, food and beverages to the orphans there as well as provided entertainment for them.

Lim said it was their annual charity activity to serve and remember the less fortunate group. They also carried out a gotong-royong after the program to maintain the cleanliness of the orphanage.
