New RM10 mln building for Tawau Old Folks Home
TAWAU: The Tawau Hotspring Old Folks Home will soon get a new building costing about RM10 million to replace its old and dilapidated residential building.
Disclosing this here yesterday, Sabah Welfare Department director Mohd Noor Wahab said the hall and the administrative office building would not be demolished for historical reasons.
Mohd Noor said the government had approved the funding for the project while Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) would hold a meeting this month to discuss about the building plan.
Speaking during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri cum Family Day gathering of Hotspring Old Folk Home here yesterday afternoon, he hoped the building plan could be finalized as soon as possible with the cooperation of TMC and PWD so that work on this new building could be completed within two years.
He said according to his department's record, Tawau Hotspring Old Folk Home is the most active in Sabah so far although its buildings still remain the same.
“Its service delivery and speedy actions in identifying the focus group (elderly) are very excellent,” he added.
Meanwhile, the officer-incharge of Tawau Hotspring Old Folk Home, Taufiq Leong disclosed that it would be their responsibility to take good care pf the elderly and protect them throughout their lifetime and ensure that they always feel happy and in perfect harmony.
Also present were the vice president of TMC Aftar Nurajat, former TMC president Datuk Ismail Mayakob and other guests.
