Elto ‘Baby Pacquiao’ grabs Super 4 BAC cup

LABUAN: Elto Jai from the Borneo Combat Gym Labuan, also known as ‘Baby Pacquiao’ fought through three exciting rounds to win his debut Super 4 semi pro K1 fight against PG Mohd Dinie from 018 MMA Gym Brunei, in the 3rd season of the Borneo Amateur Challenge (BAC) here on Saturday.

Earlier, Elto beat Morris Hii from D-30, while PG Mohd Dinie won his fight against Writh Kataposan from KMMA.

In the much anticipate­d Super Fight Female K1, Liyana from TNT Hartamas KL defeated Cindy Martin from Borneo Combat Gym Labuan.

Sixteen teams from Labuan, Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Tamparuli, Miri and Kuala Lumpur took part in this event, which offered 11 categories for K1 amateur fights, three categories for MMA amateur and two categories for K1 semi pro fights.

Borneo Combat Gym Labuan grabbed the overall team champion’s place with four gold, four silver and one bronze medals and the Male Super 4 Champion.

Other results include Tomoi Labuan (two gold, two silver, three bronze), Sabah Top Team KK (two gold, one bronze), D-30 Fight Team Miri (one gold, four silver, one bronze), TNT Kickboxing KL (one gold, one silver, one bronze and Champion Female Super Fight), Team Karabaw Tamparuli (one gold, one silver, one bronze), Keningau Mix Martial Arts (one gold, three bronze), PSB Wellness Brunei (one gold), Mayhem Fight Team Brunei (one gold), Rockstar Tattoo Labuan (one silver, one bronze), 018 Martial Arts Academy Brunei (Super 4 Silver), 106 Provos Labuan (one bronze), Victoria Rugby Club Labuan (one bronze), Winfit Fitness Centre Labuan (one bronze), TNT Hartamas KL.

The event organised by BCG Labuan was sponsored by Amnig, Dutch Lady, BoxxTomoi, Regus, Welson Aerialvide­ography, Perdana Cineplex, AS, Power Root, Fight Fest, One Stop Duty Free, Loong Fish Head and Mr Dicky Ng.

“The BAC is a platform for young amateur athletes to showcase their talent in martial arts and good sportsmans­hip. The next events will be the BAC 4 in March 2017, BAC 5 in August 2017 and ISKA K1 National Championsh­ip in December 2017,” said Mr Alvin Chong, the founder and co-owner of the Borneo Combat Gym.

In another event, three participan­ts attended the ISKA K1 & MMA Referees Course held in the Borneo Combat Gym on December 16. It was conducted by Master Khoo Meng Yang, who is the South East Asia ISKA representa­tive.
