KK Polytechnic to conduct Learning Express program
KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic has made a headstart in its internationalization efforts when it is selected to conduct a pilot project by an international institution of higher learning.
Singapore Polytechnic International, through the Department of Polytechnic Education, Malaysia has selected Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic to undertake its Learning Express (LeX) programme, the first to be held in Malaysia.
The programme is an international social innovation programme that provides students from all over the world with the opportunity to work together on a community project using the Design Thinking methodology. It involves students in activities that address local needs while developing their academic skills and commitment to the community.
Singapore Polytechnic International deputy general manager Chia Hui Yong said in a meeting held here on Thursday that Kota Kinabalu was selected based on its rich cultural diversity and its geological aspects which he said will benefit the students. The programme will involve selected lecturers and students of multi- discipline from both institutions who will be located at selected venues for 14 days.
Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic director Roslee bin Yahya said this programme is a great platform to expose lecturers and students to increase and develop their skills and knowledge at the same time contributing to the community.
Also present at the meeting were Singapore Polytechnic International programme manager Wong Huey Khey, deputy director (academic) Zaidi bin Zakaria and other senior management of Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic.
