KDMM FC hope for Interior football fans support
TENOM: KDMM FC are banking on full support from the Interior communities to become the team’s 12th man in their FAM Cup League matches at the Keningau Sports Complex beginning February 28.
“We have done our preseason preparation to the best of our ability...the only thing we need now is the full support from the local communities to complete our efforts.
“Let us create history together for football in the Interior. Turn up in numbers and give your support to this local team,” said Kadazandusun Murut Malaysia president Datuk Peter Anthony.
He said this when met at KDMM FC’s meet-the-fanssession at Dewan Datuk OKK Sanggau Jalang in Malalap, before a friendly match with a Tenom Selection at the Tenom Sports Complex, yesterday.
Peter hoped the Interior communities especially football fans will grow closely attached to KDMM FC and support it like it was their own team.
“Coincidentally almost half of the players in the squad are from the Interior Division including four or five players from Tenom. They are among 10 Murut players we have in the team.
“Bringing the FAM Cup challenge to Keningau is also a new chapter in the history books for this territory. In the past, folks have to go all the way to Kota KInabalu to catch the Malaysia League action but now, through the FAM Cup League the action is right at their doorstep.
“This (M-League being played at the Keningau Sports Complex) is one of the requests we received from conducting the KDM Malaysia Tour in recent years. It has finally been granted and we hope the people would turn up in numbers to support KDMM FC in all their home matches,” he said.
Peter said they have yet to receive the complete league fixtures but were informed by tournament officials that they would open their campaign with three consecutive home matches, beginning first with the tie against Ministry of Finance FC (MOF FC) on February 28.
Matches are said to be scheduled every Sunday with kick-off at 4pm.
“Due to limited capacity, we urge fans to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment. Meanwhile, we will try to ensure ticket sales can be controlled accordingly to suit capacity,” Peter said.
