AKHYAR SAGA CONTINUES
FAM still trying to settle his issue amicably
THE FA of Malaysia (FAM) are still clueless on how to settle the Akhyar Rashid saga pertaining his decision to part ways with Kedah and join reigning Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim amicably.
The national body have invited the Kedah FA (KFA) for a discussion to settle the matter, but a date hasn’t been finalised yet.
FAM will try to persuade KFA to issue Akhyar his transfer certificate so that the player can be registered by JDT for the MLeague, which starts next month.
“FAM can issue a temporary transfer certificate to Akhyar as his case was initially deliberated by our status committee. We do not want to go there as we respect our affiliates.
“We will have a discussion with KFA soon and hopefully, this can be resolved. We will also touch on KFA’s intention to file a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“I do not want to discuss further until we have met KFA,” said FAM secretary general Stuart Ramalingam.
If the matter goes to CAS, Akhyar will still be issued a provisional registration certificate which will also allow him to play for JDT while awaiting a decision by the international body.
JDT have requested for the transfer certificate from KFA and if the former AFC Cup champions do not receive any feedback within 14 days, they can register him on a provisional basis.
