MACC urged to probe political secretary

-

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to investigate a political secretary for allegedly abusing his position to gain support in the ongoing PKR party polls.

PKR Youth Wing secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razab said the person in question had abused his position by offering development and infrastructure projects to local leaders in a state on Sept 1.

“I received a pen-drive yesterday from a complainant and in it was a picture and an audio recording. The pen-drive contains information about a meeting attended by the political secretary on Sept 1,” said Syukri at the MACC headquarters here yesterday after he handed over the pen-drive.

He said the evidence implicated the political secretary.

Syukri said the political secretary offered a development contract to upgrade infrastructure in a deal worth RM20,000 to local leaders who attended the meeting.

“He announced to them that he would receive RM300,000 from another ministry that needs to be spent by year end. So he told the leaders present to make an application to get the contract.”

He believed the offer was related to the party polls as the political secretary was a candidate for PKR’s central leadership committee and also a branch leader.
