I’m not betraying people’s trust, says Danyal

-

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah does not believe that his move to vacate the Port Dickson parliamentary seat is a betrayal of the people’s trust.

Danyal, who will be exiting the seat to enable PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest in a by-election, said he would continue to serve the people, although as a non-member of parliament.

He said he had discussed the move with his constituents and there was no issue.

“I will continue to serve the people, especially in the rural areas. After Anwar takes over this seat, I will continue to listen to the rakyat’s problems in Port Dickson on behalf of Anwar.

“I will not leave the people...

“It is very clear that the people are happy to know that Anwar will contest in the seat, ” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Danyal also denied that he received compensation for vacating the seat.

“I’m not receiving anything.

“In return, I get to work with Anwar. I am still serving the people there,” Danyal said.

He said Anwar should be made prime minister as soon as possible.

“My suggestion to him is for him to enter Parliament as soon as possible. It has nothing to do with PKR.

“I feel that as a prime ministerin-waiting, he shouldn’t be making noise outside.

“I told him to get into the system as soon as possible.
