Police still hunting for Jho Low, says IGP
KLANG: The police are still hunting for businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, said InspectorGeneral of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
“Investigations into his links to the scandal are proceeding as normal,” he said when asked about the development on efforts to hunt for Jho Low.
Sarawak Report had previously reported that a radio station in Hong Kong broadcasted a news report of Low’s arrest in China.
However, the report was not confirmed by any party.
It has also been reported that Low’s passport was cancelled by the Immigration Department on June 15 at the request of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over its investigation into the 1MDB scandal.
Earlier, Fuzi accompanied Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to visit luxury yacht Equanimity, which had docked at the Boustead Cruise Centre Terminal here.
The yacht, believed to be linked to Low and the 1MDB scandal, arrived in Malaysia on Sunday after being handed over by Indonesian authorities.
Asked on the case of the 17 security guards at the Prime Minister’s Department suspected of involvement in the misappropriation of the 14th General Election (GE14) fund of RM3.5 million, Fuzi said it was being handled by the MACC.
