Najib: Stop obsessing over me

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Things are heating up between DAP strongman Lim Kit Siang and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as they engage in a war of words over the former’s challenge for a public debate.

Najib responded by asking Lim to stop obsessing over him.

“Lim has released over 26 statements about me in this month alone, trying to provoke me.

“He should stop being so obsessed with me.

“I’m no longer the prime minister, nor am I the Barisan Nasional president,” said Najib in a post published on his Facebook account yesterday.

Najib was responding to Lim’s challenge to a public debate that the latter posted on his blog yesterday.

“I challenge Najib to a public forum, ‘Islam is not kleptocracy’. Accept the challenge, and our respective representatives can decide on the place, date, time and other details for the public forum,” said Lim.

Lim stood his ground, saying he had never belittled Islam and only wanted Najib to take up the challenge so they could clear the matter in a public forum.

Najib countered by saying Lim should focus on explaining Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) shortcomings in achieving its 100 days’ promises, which were part of its 14th General Election manifesto.

“There are so many election promises that have yet to be accomplished.

“They should give a reasonable excuse seeing that we only have 20 days left to get them done.

“He should have a debate titled, ‘PH government and their sweet promises’, or ‘Has the rakyat been cheated by Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto’?” Najib said.
