‘BEWARE OF SLANDER BOMBS’
DPM urges people not to be deceived by fake news stirred up by opposition
THE people have been reminded not to be tricked and influenced by “Surprise Last Minute Attack” or SLMA slanders hurled by the opposition in the 14th General Election (GE14), as they did in the past general election.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged the people to be cautious and be prepared for such tactics, which were carried out to instil hatred towards Barisan Nasional.
“Be careful with the opposition’s slick ploy. I urge people not to be influenced.
“Remind all your friends on social media, at the coffeeshops or anywhere not to be deceived by these ‘slander bombs’ that the opposition will deploy at the last minute because it will wait for the last moment to act.
“These tactics are to confuse and deceive the people, and it is willing to use an elderly leader with no values to achieve their goals,” he said at a meet-the-people event here yesterday.
Present were Zahid’s wife, Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Johor BN secretary Datuk Md Jais Sarday, who is also the incumbent for the Mahkota state seat.
“There will be last-minute bombs. We have to be prepared for them.
“For example, in the last general election, they claimed that the BN government brought in 40,000 Bangladeshis to vote. How is it possible for us to do so? This was a last-minute attack that they used.”
He said a BN study showed that there was awareness among Chinese and Indian voters nationwide about the need to choose BN representatives as only they could provide good services in their respective constituencies.
He said this was proven when BN managed to fulfil 99.4 per cent of the promises it made in the manifesto for the 13th General Election.
“Only 0.6 per cent has not been achieved. This means we are an excellent political party, unlike in certain states where ‘the leaders get the water, the people get the pail’.
“Don’t be like the opposition, which uses a constituency where it contests as a transit point, and will look for a new one when election season approaches.
“I would like to stress that Kluang, Mengkibol and Mahkota (constituencies) are not transit points.
“The people should reject these candidates.”
