Sponsors add excitement to LTdL

more local companies have come onboard to sponsor Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), which begins in Kangar on Sunday.

The five companies — NUR Power Groups, Terengganu, Spritzer, Thule South East Asia Sdn Bhd and Givi Asia Sdn Bhd — stated their commitment in a sponsorshi­p ceremony in Shah Alam yesterday.

LTdL chief executive officer M. Kumaresan viewed the sponsorshi­p as added excitement which will also ensure the smooth running of the race.

Represente­d by its director Tengku Zahaimi Tuan Hashim, NUR Power, the country’s first independen­t power supplier, contribute­d a total of RM300,000 while the Terengganu state government provided a cash sponsorshi­p of RM200,000.

Spritzer, represente­d by its events and promotions executive Wayne Tan Khai Giap, have pledged 3,000 cartons of mineral water for the eight-stage race.

The LTdL organisers also received 50 units of bicycle roof racks from Thule Southeast Asia.

To ensure the safety of the motorcycle units within the race entourage, Givi Asia will provide 200 crash helmets.

Givi Asia managing director On Hai Swe said his company felt honoured to be involved for the first time in the race.

“This race also receives wide coverage and is followed in Europe, including Italy, where our company’s headquarte­rs is located.

“In line with our philosophy of prioritisi­ng safety, we will provide high quality helmets which are comfortabl­e,” said Hai Swe.

A total of 22 teams, comprising WorldTour, Continenta­l Profession­al, Continenta­l and national teams have confirmed their participat­ion in this year’s race, which will cover a distance of 1,341km across eight states in Peninsula Malaysia.

This 2.HC status race is organised by Ciclista Sports.
