TenTwenty is king of DoTA 2 tournament

KUALA LUMPUR: After a gruelling challenge that pushed them physically, mentally and emotionall­y, TenTwenty from Singapore clinched the championsh­ip title of the Mountain Dew, Dew Challenge 2017.

The finale of the Dew Challenge 2017-Amateur DoTA 2 Tournament yesterday at Comic Fiesta in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre also saw the team of five bagging RM60,000.

Malaysian team Virtual Genesis emerged as the first runnerup and took home RM30,000, followed by Kids+Adults (Singapore), who took home RM15,000. CR1 Stratos (Malaysia) won the next prize of RM13,000.

The tournament, which opened its doors for the first time to DoTA 2 fanatics from Singapore, first kicked off in Penang with teams battling to claim the top four spots in the region.

The tournament then proceeded to Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Selangor, before crossing to the island republic in Pasir Ris at Colosseum, and Outram at Alienware.

From the 250 teams in the tournament, 24 teams from Malaysia and 12 teams from Singapore made it into the group stage before four made it into the finale.

Etika Sdn Bhd marketing vicepresid­ent Santharuba­n T. Sundaram said it was amazing to see the enthusiasm and dedication of the players.

“The energy and the competitiv­e spirit shown by all teams were absolutely incredible, which what Mountain Dew is all about in taking things to the next level.

“We like to congratula­te TenTwenty and hope that this will create opportunit­ies for them to pursue their dreams,” he said.
