WHILE recording for her upcoming album, Indonesiaborn artiste Anggun Cipta Sasmi, 43, was approached by her record label if she wanted to feature a duet number.

“I gave it a thought and figured that it could be a great valueadded element to my new record, ‘8’.”

Anggun did not want a male singer as duet partner, something which she had done previously.

“I wanted to make it special. I wanted a female singer instead. Then, someone mentioned Fazura. So, I had to check her out. I came across some of her works, including Facing Up To Fazura.

“She’s this young, bubbly and fun person, and I then knew that she would be the perfect choice,” said Anggun, when asked how she decided on Malaysian singeractress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin as her duet partner.

Prior to choosing Fazura, Anggun first sifted through all the songs of the album to decide on one which could be turned into a nice duet.

“I decided on The Good Is Back. It’s pop rock and it’s a song which can be a great anthem for strong women who have had their hearts broken,” she said in Petaling Jaya on Sunday.

Anggun was here recently to record the duet with Fazura.

Fazura, 34, said she was surprised when she was informed that Anggun had picked her to collaborate on a duet.

“I felt intimidated as my vocals are nowhere near hers. Also, she’s Anggun! I know my limitations, but when such an opportunity arises, you have to grab it.”
