Ann gives up cage fights

-

ANN Osman won’t be fighting in the cage from now after opting for less bruising office work.

The MMA star has retired from One Championship and joined the franchise’s Athlete Relations and Development team after announcing her retirement on Monday.

After five years of fighting in the cage, the 31-year-old leaves her professional career with a heavy heart.

“My fight contract with One was coming to an end and I had given a lot of thought about my plans. While I have had about four to five amazing years fighting in the One cage, I wanted to explore other opportunities, including expanding my businesses,” said Ann, who has a travel adventures company in Sabah.

Following her announcement, One Operations and Competition vice president, Matt Hume offered Ann a position on the Athlete Relations and Development team.

“I am looking forward to discovering and signing new potential talents, talents who possess the skills, heart and values that reflect what One Championship athletes represent,” she said on Monday.

Despite not being able to realise her dream of becoming Malaysia’s first One World Champion, Ann hopes that she will see a Malaysian female hold the title in the near future.

Ann, with a career record of five-wins and four losses, said: “I will definitely miss the days walking out with the Malaysia flag on my back and raising my hand after the fight as my countrymen cheer for me in the stadium.” Farah Azharie
