‘Umno to continue dispelling baseless allegations’

-

KOTA BARU: Umno will continue briefing the people on current issues to help the government dispel all “baseless” allegations and slander by certain quarters.

Its information chief, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, said at the same time, Umno members would meet the people and help solve their problems.

“Nowadays, there are many quarters who try to incite the people by claiming that they are now living in difficult and torturous times.

“They try to make the people lose confidence in the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“We (Umno) will assist the government by regaining the (people’s) confidence,” said Annuar, who is also an Umno Supreme Council member.

The Ketereh member of parliament was speaking to reporters after attending a gathering of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia entrepreneurs at the Kelantan Matriculation College here, yesterday.

“Barisan Nasional is the only government that uses micro-management in handling the problems faced by the people.

“We admit that sometimes, there are problems faced by the government, but the most important thing is that we address the problem and find solutions one by one,” he said.

On PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s support for a commission to investigate allegations against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Annuar said the statement was more of a “reminder” to Dr Mahathir.

“It is also a signal to Dr Mahathir not to take PKR and other parties in Pakatan for granted.”

Dr Wan Azizah was quoted as saying that she would not rule out the possibility of a commission to investigate allegations against Dr Mahathir during his 22-year tenure as prime minister.

However, she said it would depend on whether the opposition would win the 14th General Election.
