ASET of triplets became instant “celebrities” of sorts the moment they stepped into the SK Wan Sulaiman Sidiq compound for the Year One pupil registration yesterday.

Bearing the same hairstyle with similar physical features, the trio — Adam Haziq Mohd Nasron, Adam Hariz and Adam Haikal — stumped their teachers and classmates, who had to take a really good look at the triplets before they could tell them apart.

Born to Corporal Mohd Nasron Abu Bakar, 33, of the Royal Malaysian Signals Regiment at Bukit Cowder Camp in Perlis, and Kedah civil servant Zunaidah Zainon, 33, the boys found the confused looks amusing.

However, on closer inspection, Adam Haziq, the oldest of the three, appeared more active and independent than his two siblings.

When approached by the New Straits Times, the boys spoke shyly about their identical looks.

“Of course we are the same, we are siblings,” said Adam Haziq.

Nasron said his boys were inseparable and had similar tastes and interests.

“If one of them wants to go to toilet, the others will follow suit.

“I think the teachers will have their hands full with the boys,” he said with a broad smile.

According to Nasron, he had to buy similar school bags, pencil cases and colour pencils for the boys.

“They are excited to attend school and were up early to prepare for the day,” he said.

Nasron said the triplets, born on July 7, 2010, were his only children.

He added that Zunaidah’s side of the family had several sets of twins, so he was prepared for a multiple birth.

“When my wife was confirmed to be pregnant with triplets, I was a bit worried. But after seeing their tiny faces, it was a joyous moment for us.”

School headmaster Zulkifli Hassan said the triplets were placed in the same classroom since there was only one classroom open for Year One pupils for the next school term.

He said the school only accepted 30 applications for Year One pupils this time.
