KU wins GCC prize on e-curricula design
MANAMA: The Kuwait University won the second edition of the GCC Secretariat prize on e-curricula designs among the member states. The Secretariat gave the prize to Dr Abdullah Al-Mutawa, a professor of Computer Engineering from Kuwait University, during the Fifth International Conference on e-Learning. Al-Mutawa expressed his joy for winning the prize, saying he took part in the competition through submitting an e-curriculum on containing lectures for students by a videoconference that could be watched anywhere.
He told KUNA that he has implemented this curriculum since 2012 and the students’ levels were greatly improved. He said that he carried out lectures through eprograms that could be seen by students at anytime, noting that lectures inside classes witness positive interaction among all students so their levels were improved.
Meanwhile, Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa said, during his speech, that the e-learning has contributed to innovation and creativity, and preparing a qualified and trained generation on the latest knowledge. He noted that the prize is an initiative supported by the GCC leaders, affirming its vital role in serving the society and contributing effectively to the education process through transferring knowledge and expertise. Oh his part, Dr. Adel Al-Zayani, President of the Human and Environmental Affairs Sector of GCC Secretary, said in a speech on behalf of GCC Secretary General that the GCC governments paid a great attention to support and develop infrastructure of education and list e-learning at different levels of education. —KUNA
