Bigger role for cultural centers in reviving tourism
KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Thursday toured a number of cultural institutions across Kuwait to follow up the cultural activity in the country.
During his tour, Sheikh Salman expressed his admiration of the potential of the different national cultural centers.
He lauded the indelible marks of Kuwaiti artists and intellectuals in the progress of the cultural scene inside and outside of Kuwait. Sheikh Salman, however, urged cultural personalities to do more to raise the flag of Kuwait in different cultural events across the world.
“We also eye bigger role for the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) in setting strategies and plans to allure tourists to Kuwait,” Sheikh Salman told reporters, highlighting Kuwait’s richness in diverse cultural centers and institutions.
He urged the NCCAL and its affiliates to exert more efforts to give impetus to the tourism sector through expanding cultural events that attract foreign audiences.
“Upgrading the cultural centers is the main task and the top priority of NCCAL’s plan of action,” Sheikh Salman underscored.
Accompanying the tour were Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Nayef Al-Hajraf, the NCCAL Secretary General Ali Al-Yuha, and several senior ministry officials and prominent cultural figures.
Sheikh Salman paid visits to the Kuwait National Museum, Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, Amricani Cultural Centre, Dickson House Cultural Center, Free Art Atelier, Museum of Modern Art and the historic traditional houses of Beit Al-Badr and Beit Al Marzouk.
