Kuwait Club primed for league challenges after Super Cup win

Loss doesn’t mark the end: Kazma

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: Kuwait Club concluded their Super Cup journey with jubilation, securing a 2-1 victory over Kazma and claiming their seventh Super Cup title in the history of Al-Ameed. This triumph marks their first championsh­ip in the current season. Kuwait Sporting Club (SC) clinched victory in the 16th edition of the Super Cup, triumphing over Kazma SC with a final score of 2-1. The thrilling match saw Kazma SC initially taking the lead and scoring in the 33rd minute, but Kuwait SC quickly responded, equalizing in the 36th minute.

As the second half unfolded, Kuwait SC secured their second goal in the 57th minute, ultimately claiming the Super Cup trophy. With this win, Kuwait SC now boasts a total of seven Super Cup titles in its history, surpassing

Kuwait Club aspires to carry the momentum from the Super Championsh­ip into the upcoming Zain Premier League matches. The Super Cup success is seen as a confidence booster, especially after Kuwait’s eliminatio­n from the Amir’s Cup competitio­n. The team aims to bolster morale ahead of the clash against Al-Arabi on Sunday, a crucial fixture in the 17th round of the league.

Kuwait Club President, Khaled Al-Ghanem, expressed the club’s ambition to lead in all tournament­s. He attributed their success to meticulous planning initiated during the tenure of former club president Marzouq Al-Ghanem. Al-Ghanem commended everyone involved in Al-Abyad’s journey to the top spot currently occupied by most of the club’s teams.

“The White Train will not stop,” affirmed Al-Ghanem, emphasizin­g the present focus on league matches, starting with the upcoming confrontat­ion against Al-Arabi. The race for the Premier League title necessitat­es accumulati­ng the highest number of points in the remaining “League Six” competitio­ns.

Coach Nabil Maaloul acknowledg­ed the challenges faced recently, including notable absences like striker Taha Al-Khanisi and goalkeeper­s Abdul Rahman Kamil and Dhari AlOtaibi. He expressed hope in recovering key players before the Al-Arabi match and urged his team to maintain their high level of performanc­e and spirit during challengin­g times.

Maaloul emphasized the belief in strategic preparatio­n for each match, particular­ly in facing Al-Arabi, underscori­ng the importance of leveraging simple details to secure victory.

In the Kazma camp, a sense of contentmen­t prevailed after defeating Al-Arabi in the semi-finals and engaging in a fierce battle against Al-Abyad. Assistant coach Badr Al-Enezi highlighte­d that losing the Super Cup doesn’t mark the end, acknowledg­ing the team’s tremendous effort in the tournament. Looking ahead, the focus shifts to preparing for the decisive match against AlFahaheel in the seventeent­h round of the league to maintain their standing among the teams in the first group.
