Martyr’s Office wing opened in ‘Bait Al-Othman’ Museum

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: The Director General of the Martyr’s Office Salah AlAufan and the Deputy Director of the Bait Al-Othman Museum Hussein Al-Qattan inaugurate­d the Martyr’s Office wing in the Bait Al-Othman Museum after its renovation on the occasion of the National holidays.

The wing includes pictures of martyrs from 1961, martyrs of the Iraqi invasion, and the martyrs of duty.

In a press statement, the Director General of the Martyr’s Office Salah Al-Aufan explained that the wing of the Martyr’s Office has pictures of the martyrs of Kuwait from the time of independen­ce in 1961 until the present day. They include the following:1. Martyrs before the Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait - 153 martyrs from Arab wars, explosion of popular cafes, explosion of the Amir’s convoy, hijacking of Jabriya plane, soldiers of duty and terrorist operations

2. Martyrs during the Iraqi invasion and martyrs of captivity - 968 martyrs, and martyrs after the Iraqi invasion - 208 martyrs.

The Martyr’s Office also sponsors military martyrs during duty, and martyrs of natural disasters and general exceptiona­l incidents approved by the Council of Ministers

The Martyr’s Office provides care for the father, mother, spouse and children of the martyrs.

Al-Aufan revealed that the number of martyrs has reached 1,329 martyrs to date.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General of the Bait Al-Othman Museum, Hussein Al-Qattan, explained that the museum is a shrine for school students and includes many artefacts and objects of Kuwaiti heritage. It has wings for the Amiri Diwan and for the Martyr’s Office, which has been caring for the children of martyrs since 1961.

The Bait Al-Othman Museum participat­es in Kuwaiti holidays and opens its doors to the public for them to view the museum’s collection­s that express Kuwait’s maritime and land heritage and history.

The museum embodies the old Kuwaiti house with all its belongings, including clothes, furniture, tools and documents that reveal the lives of the people of Kuwait in olden times. It tells the history of the country across generation­s and gives the visitor a comprehens­ive picture of the history of this country.
