Kuwait pioneer in helping the needy, says Sri Lankan envoy
KUWAIT CITY, June 10, (KUNA): Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Kuwait Uthman Lebbe Mohammed Jauhar said Wednesday that Kuwait has been and continues to be a pioneer in helping the needy and afflicted around the world within the framework of its commitment to extending a helping hand to everyone in need.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency after meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, Ambassador Jauhar expressed his appreciation for the society’s efforts in the humanitarian and medical fields, as well as for providing urgent health aid, including medical aid and devices, to combat the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
He explained that he was briefed on the size of the humanitarian programs implemented by KRCS at the international and local levels in combating the virus and its great role in supporting and providing aid to affected workers and families in need, praising the efforts of the Society at the Arab and international levels and what it is doing to help the afflicted countries.
For his part, Al-Sayer welcomed, in a similar statement to KUNA, the visit of the Sri Lankan ambassador to the KRCS headquarters, stressing its keenness to participate in the humanitarian efforts undertaken by Kuwait by providing support and assistance to those affected by natural or man-made disasters.
Al-Sayer stated that the meeting touched on the assistance provided by the Society to the afflicted and the most important works of the association and its humanitarian movements to provide relief and assistance to the affected areas and its role in combating COVID-19, especially supporting health efforts in Sri Lanka.
He affirmed that KRCS will continue to provide support and aid to the friendly Sri Lankan people and focus on urgently providing shortage in equipment, medicines and medical supplies, as a reflection of the strong friendly relations between the two countries.
