804 cases on lockdown-10

KUWAIT CITY, May 20, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health Wednesday announced 804 additional infections with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), taking the total count to 17,568.

The ministry also reported three more deaths due to the virus, bringing the country’s death toll to 124 so far.

The latest infections were all due to close contacts with previously unveiled confirmed patients or with cases that are still under active surveillance, the ministry’s Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in his daily briefing.

The fresh cases include 170 Kuwaiti citizens, 261 residents from India, 140 from Egypt, 67 from Bangladesh, while the remaining cases are of other nationalities, he added.

In addition, 167 patients are still receiving medication in intensive care units, while 847 others completed their compulsory institutional quarantine period in the last 24 hours, Al-Sanad noted.

Earlier in the day, the Kuwaiti Health Ministry Wednesday confirmed the recovery of 204 additional novel coronavirus patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,885 so far.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia announced, Wednesday, 10 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 2,691 new infections.

According to Saudi health authorities, the tally of deaths and infections hit 339 and 62,545 respectively.

Meanwhile, recoveries from the virus reached 33,478 individuals with the addition of 1,844 cases.

There are 276 critical cases receiving treatment at intensive care units.

Bahrain

Up to 190 cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered in Bahrain in past hours, said health authorities .

There were also 21 people recovering from the virus, which put the tally at 2,952, affirmed the Bahraini Health Ministry.

Those still receiving treatment amount to 4,410 of which nine are in intensive care.

Iraq

Iraqi Ministry of Health recorded four new deaths with coronavirus bringing toll of fatalities to 131.

The ministry said in a statement there were 57 new infection cases with COVID-19, thus total of the contamination cases climbed to 3,611.

It also reported a total of 2,366 recoveries so far.
