KU announces completion of new academic calendar
University prepared to receive high school graduates in Oct
KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Acting President of Kuwait University Dr Fayez Al-Dhafiri announced the completion of the new university calendar after the decision to suspend classes due to the novel coronavirus crisis until August, affirming that the university laid down a plan in case classes resume on Aug 9 or Sept 9, reports Al-Anba daily.
In an exclusive interview with the daily, Al-Dhafiri confirmed that the university calendar is ready and awaiting presentation to the Deans Committee.
He talked about the current role of the university – to serve society through its colleges, while highlighting the university’s preparations to receive high school graduates in October.
He revealed that 95 of members of the teaching staff are involved in practical training in clinics and hospitals under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.
He also stressed the importance of reviewing the university’s policy and the urgent need to increase scientific specializations.
He added the university is in constant contact with its students, who are currently abroad on scholarship, to check their condition. “We have about 470 students on scholarship currently completing language courses, master’s and doctorate degrees. We communicated with them and made sure they are safe. Their studies are continuous and everyone is fine. Some doctorate degree students in the United States have finished their dissertations and they want to return to Kuwait as they have already completed their studies,” he narrated.
