SKARZ clinch PBAK’s Desperado-Group 2 Championship trophy
IBL Tigers settle as first runners-up
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 12: Despite losing against twelve teams during the elimination round, the SKARZ team competed in the DesperadoGroup ll with their heads up high and played with their big hearts with a smile to snatch the championship trophy. The Indian team accumulated 3,884 points while the first runner up, the IBL Tigers with 3,775.
The version was a part of PBAK 33rd Anniversary Cup – Tenpin Bowling League held at Kuwait Bowling Sports Club in Salmiyah. The Games format played was four games series; scoring was total pin fall plus handicap; no opponent and no win points and the top two will be declared champions and first runners-up. The other teams with their scores were GOAN Strikers (3,745), Falcon Int’l Cargo (3,548) and N 10 MID8TORS (2,562).
After the elimination of elusive win, the SKARZ team composed mostly of the men’s inferior bowlers’ class, played exquisitely and finally got its first taste of victory. They were declared champions after accruing 1,013, 1,040, 992, 839 in four games. The splendid performance of the top three, Melwin Isaac who gathered 191, 180, 188, 149 (708), Lionel Mendes who scored 183, 205, 170, 123 (681) and team captain Stephen Sequiera who delivered 168, 192, 160, 147 (667) scored above average. The trio was supported by Diago Camilo (581) and Ignatius Fernandes (445) who maintained their average points. For the IBL Tigers who never lost their fighting spirits grabbed the first runner up led by the lady tigress Nadine Dias admired with her desire and passion to win plucked 170, 193, 162, 195 (720) and tiger king Ulysses Menezes scoring 190, 130, 221, 163 (704). The tandem was supported by Aman Agarwal (573), Jason D’Souza ((547), Rudolph Castelino (495) and Fatima Sequiera (117).
For the GOAN Strikers the top scorer was Vasant Hershan (768), followed by Lloyd Fernandes (693), Colin Eric Nelson (605), Brian Fernandes (596) and Samantha Fernandes (555). The early favorite to win this completion, the Falcon Int’l Cargo played below their usual performance. The top pointer was Melvin Alavado (672), followed by John Narvasa (642), Erick Chang (634), Christine Moreno (398), Imelda Calingasan (379) and Jess Tolentino (281) and finally, also one of the early preferred team N 10 MID8TORS who showed with a depleted lineup end up the tailender with Daryl Armstrong who played and scored the highest individual score of 245 points, end up as top scorer with 516, followed by Alma Turley (494), Lito Michael (410) and Desmond Coke (386).
During the game prexy Rudy de Lima emphasized that PBAK continued its goal by giving due importance to losing teams to become champion and worth their economic contribution in supporting all PBAK leagues. De Lima further stress that the bowling club affirmed the unity and camaraderie among members and officers.
Meanwhile the Top 8 – Group l after the first week-four games the standing are as follows: 1. Al Qwassem (4,401); 2. UNIMONI Exchange (4,012); 3. Jordan Elites (3,981); 4. Asian Air Safari (3,935); 5. Swooping Eagles (3,844); 6. KRAHS (3,787); 7. XTrikerz (3,755) and 8. NUSANTARA (3,740). The last three games scheduled on Friday will determine the champions and the runners-up.
