‘Power units repairs on schedule’

‘Ready for summer 2020’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: The Assistant Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water for power stations and water distillati­on Khalifa Al-Fareej confirmed that the maintenanc­e schedule for electric power production units and water distillers, which began last September, according to the dates mentioned in the maintenanc­e schedule are being strictly followed and stressed on the need to complete all maintenanc­e works on the agreed stations to ensure all work is completed before summer 2020, reports Al-Rai daily.

“We are currently working on the maintenanc­e of 13 water distillers, at a rate of 23 percent of a total of 57 programmed distilleri­es, and work on the maintenanc­e of 10 power generating units at the rate of 11 percent of the programmed units for maintenanc­e out of 90 units,” Al-Fareej said in a press statement.

He explained the program includes the maintenanc­e of 90 power generating units representi­ng 83 percent of the total units, and maintenanc­e of 57 distillati­on units, equivalent to 97 percent of the total distillati­on units, in addition to the maintenanc­e of desalinati­on units using reverse osmosis technology at Al-Zour South and Shuwaikh plants and maintenanc­e of auxiliary equipments.

He added the workers at the power stations – engineers and technician­s – carry out the works and supervise all maintenanc­e projects as per the program which was approved in coordinati­on with contractor­s in this area.
