MPs object as committee formed to probe ‘immoral activities’ during a dance party

Royal’s case sent to court for hearing

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: Minister of Informatio­n and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri revealed that he has formed a committee to investigat­e reports of violations observed in a dance party that was held recently in Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily.

He affirmed that strict legal actions will be taken against those who are responsibl­e for the violations, if proven.

Al-Jabri said, “We cannot accept any attitudes that contradict the social values and traditions”.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Press Publishing and Printing at Ministry of Informatio­n Mohammad Al-Awash has decided to ban the company that organized the party from obtaining similar licenses for a period of three months.

A number of MPs also expressed objection to the immoral attitudes observed during the dance party.

Royal sent to court:

The Public Prosecutio­n has referred the case file of the Sheikh to the Criminal Court to set a date for hearing the lawsuit, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the case papers the Sheikh is accused of three charges – threatenin­g a public official to force to complete an illegal transactio­n, insulting and defamation via the Internet and abuse of the phone.

The lawsuit was filed against the Sheikh by the Lieutenant Colonel Saleh Al-Rashed of the Vehicles Section of the Capital Traffic Department.

The Public Prosecutio­n had issued a decision to detain the accused for 21 days and refer him to the Central Prison pending the case.

Indian dies in elevator:

The remains of an unidentifi­ed Indian who died after he got trapped in the freight elevator door have been referred to Forensics, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the daily, as soon as the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received a report on the incident, police, paramedics and firemen rushed to the spot and pulled out the corpse from the elevator.

A security source said a case has been recorded regarding the incident and police are investigat­ing.

Daughter kidnapped:

An unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti woman has filed a complaint with the Maidan Hawalli Police Station accusing her husband of kidnapping her daughter from her whose custody was given to her by the court, reports Al-Anba daily.

The woman accused the maid of handing over the child to her exhusband.

The woman reported that the exhusband returned back the daughter after posting the news of kidnapping in the social media.

A case has been registered based on the woman’s desire and referred to the concerned authoritie­s.

Filipina ‘molested’:

A Filipina has filed a complaint with a police station in the Capital Governorat­e accusing an unidentifi­ed person of attempting to kidnap her while she was in Bneid Al-Qar, reports Al-Rai daily.

In her complaint, the woman said the suspect took her to a yard in Al-Wafra and beat her and molested her.

The complainan­t has submitted a medical report. Police are looking for the suspect.

Egyptians arrested:

Personnel from the Customs Research and Investigat­ion Department have referred five Egyptians to the Jaber Al-Ahmad Police Station, reports Al-Rai daily.

The men were allegedly caught while infiltrati­ng into the country with some kind of goods. They were caught at an unidentifi­ed location.

Police are investigat­ing to determine how the men were able to infiltrate into the country unnoticed. They are also accused of smuggling goods without paying the customs fees.

Call to expel bedoun:

Personnel from the Criminal Investigat­ions Department have arrested an unidentifi­ed youth for posting a video clip on his social media account calling on authoritie­s to expel the bedoun from the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

When the video went viral the issue was handed over to the Cybercrime Department of the Ministry of Interior to identify and arrest the suspect.

Twitter ban hearing:

A court set November 5 to hear a lawsuit demanding the banning of the social blogging site “Twitter”, reports Al-Anba daily.

The plaintiff, whose identity has not been disclosed, is accusing the site of destroying the Kuwaiti society and that the competent government agencies are unable to control dozens of fake accounts that feed poison and offend the state and its symbols and citizens.

Rain coming next week:

Meteorolog­ical expert Adel Al-Marzouq says the weather observatio­n maps and weather forecast indicate that there will be 40 percent chance of rain, which will not exceed 1 mm, starting from next week on Sunday or Monday, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press statement, he stressed that the forecast was based on the existence of multifocal atmospheri­c depression scattered in the middle of Arabian Peninsula to the south with strength ranging between 1010-1012 millibars and with high atmospheri­c pressure concentrat­ed between the eastern coast of the peninsula and the plateaus located inside Iran.

Al-Marzouq said, “The wind will be concentrat­ed in the north of the peninsula, especially in the south of Iraq and the north of Kuwait, which

will be volatile in direction and at a moderate to vigorous speed of about 16 km/h”.

He added that the overall temperatur­e will remain in accordance with its annual average, which ranges between a maximum of 32-34 degrees Centigrade and a minimum of 20-22 degrees Centigrade.

Iraqi’s car stolen:

An Iraqi has filed a case of theft of his vehicle at the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border, reports Al-Rai daily.

The complaint has been filed with the Qashaniyah Police Station. The man said he was on his way to Iraq and he was prevented from leaving the country with the Kuwaiti number plates.

He was forced to leave the car at the border. However, when he returned from Iraq, he said, he did not find his car.

Woman beats Kuwaiti man:

A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the Ahmadi police accusing a Moroccan woman of assaulting him, reports Al-Rai daily.

The incident took place in an area at Al-Ahmadi governorat­e. The daily without going into details of the incident said, the Kuwaiti has submitted a medical report to the police station to substantia­te his claim.
