Kuwait company plans to bring Vietnamese domestic workers
‘Kuwait elected as member of board of ALO’
KUWAIT CITY, April 11: Al-Durra Domestic Workers Recruitment Company will soon open the door for citizens and expatriates to hire domestic workers from Vietnam, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources confirmed the concerned company officials reached an agreement with Vietnam to open new markets in order to reduce the cost for hiring domestic workers, as the cost increased remarkably after the crisis concerning Filipina housemaids.
In another development, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh announced the election of Kuwait as member of the board of Arab Labor Organization (ALO) from 2018 to 2020.
The minister made the announcement on the sideline of her participation in the 45th Arab Labor Conference held in Egypt under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Al-Sabeeh affirmed Kuwait will be the eye of every Arab and Arab Ministry of Labor in the board of the organization.
She cited the Gulf ministerial meeting on domestic employment, indicating an agreement has been reached on the need for immediate action. She said a technical team has been formed to establish and apply the automated system for hiring domestic workers.
She also stressed the need to complete the mechanism as soon as possible and specify the fees for hiring domestic workers to ease the burdens of citizens. She added all related decisions and mechanisms will be finalized before the Geneva Convention by the end of May.
