Students stay away as school not repaired after heavy rain
Clean-up to be over soon: minister
KUWAIT CITY, March 28: For the third consecutive day, Ministry of Education has failed to complete repair works of the damages caused by the rains last Friday to Al-Nasser High School for Boys, affiliated to Ahmadi Educational Zone, in South Sabahiya due to which the school is not yet ready to receive students and resume classes, reports Al-Anba daily.
Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohammed Al-Fares visited the school to examine the operations and ensure they are carried out appropriately.
According to educational sources, the clean-up operation will take another full day, as some facilities of the school are filled with mud and more time is needed to remove the mud.
They indicated that there are expecting the classes to be resumed on Tuesday as well because the school was not ready by Monday evening.
Spat over files: A female employee of Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), who works in the archives section and manages the files of the PAAET academic staff, denied entry to an academic professor who had the habit of entering the archives section, scanning through the files and taking photographs of some of the file documents using his mobile phone. This resulted in a verbal clash between the employee and the professor, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources.
They explained that the professor used his power and influence to enter the files section and dig up the files, despite the fact that those files are strictly confidential. His frequent visits to the archives section drew the attention of the female employee, who then told him that it is not allowed to go through the faculty members’ files without an official authorizing letter or at the request of the concerned person. This was not received well by the professor who then shouted at her to “get lost” and threatened her. She then reported the incident to the concerned authorities who will soon issue a circular to prevent anyone from tampering with files of the faculty members.
