Lowe looks to ‘create history’ with Reggae Boyz
Exciting winger Jamal Lowe, who plies his trade in the English Football League (EFL) Championship for Swansea City, is pleased with the opportunity to represent the Reggae Boyz again.
Lowe, who has four national caps and two goals, opined that Reggae Boyz members are salivating at the prospects of winning the Nations League.
“It feels good as it’s been a while since I’ve been involved in a camp. It’s a great opportunity for the team to create history and get a trophy. That’ll be amazing. Since I’ve gotten injured, I’ve been trying to get back to full fitness and, hopefully, bring some goals to the team,” he stated.
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz broke new ground as they defeated Canada and booked a spot in the Concacaf Nations League. They will lock horns against twotime winners the United States of America (USA) on Thursday at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in the first semi-final, followed by the other semi-final between Mexico and Panama.
According to Lowe, since his debut in 2021, up until this point, the Reggae Boyz’s performance has grown and he will continue to help them get better with each game.
“It’s been unbelievable the transformation we’ve had and the progression has been great, so I want to keep pushing us in the right direction,” he added.
The 29-year-old shared that he’s cognizant it will take a total team effort to, not only, surpass world No. 13-ranked
USA, but to go the distance. From his standpoint, the Reggae Boyz are ‘locked in’ on the task.
“Everyone has put their part in, and each player works hard towards the same goal. It doesn’t matter who the 11 on the field is, everyone has the same ambition so we should be good,” he voiced.
Lowe, on loan at Swansea from AFC Bournemouth, has netted seven times in 27 appearances. He believes the combination of trust from new manager Luke Williams and playing regular minutes has been pivotal for his solid season thus far.
“Swansea have been good to me as they have allowed me to play regular minutes. It’s also a familiar place and the new manager has shown trust in me,” Lowe stated.
