ELEPHANT MAN to show off cooking skills

-

Elephant Man is set to fly Jamaica’s flag in this Sunday’s celebrity cook-off at the third annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival in Washington, DC.

The energy god is slated to compete with DJ Ricky Platinum in the Shoppers Culinary Pavilion for bragging rights.

“I’m honoured that Jerk Fest wants me to participate in the celebrity cook-off. My skills in the kitchen aren’t as good as on the turntables, but I’m bringing my ‘A’ game. I hope Elephant Man ready for this,” stated DJ Ricky Platinum.

Other highlights of the Shoppers’ Culinary Pavilion are cooking demonstrations and tasting by Chef Irie, host of Taste the Islands television show on PBS. Washington, DC’s own Chef Giovanni Merle and Chef ‘Jumoke’ Jackson who will all showcase tasty recipes for patrons to sample.

June Minto who is managing the culinary activities for the festival, said fireworks is expected at the cook-off.

“I’m extremely excited about this year’s cookoffs and demonstrations because we have so many culinary talents that will be on display. We invite patrons to stop by the Shoppers’ Culinary Pavilion and watch celebrity chefs

at work, sample their creations paired with wine, and meet and greet local celebrities,” Minto said.

“As a food festival, we want to put the culinary activities front and centre, and that is one of the reasons which distinguishes the event,” Minto added.

Competitors are vying for the coveted Dutch Pot Trophy and bragging rights.

“If you are a foodie, you will want to make sure you are part of the audience and root for your favourite chef and celebrity,” Minto said.
