SUMMER FUN AT FUNLAND JAMAICA

- Advt.

Summer officially begins on June 20TH but for most Jamaican children it becomes a reality on July 2ND when schools officially close for Summer break. After another school year defined by a pandemic our children are excited to get off the screens and online classes that have become their reality. Parents must now look towards finding creative and engaging summer activities for kids at home during the long days as more work places are resuming regular work hours.

Funland Jamaica is offering a one month summer program for children 4-16 years old. The summer camp will be in partnership with Snapology Jamaica and the Super Sonic Club which organizes sporting activities. The camp will also focus on arts and crafts conducted by experienced artist Dan Thompson from Island Strokes Jamaica.

For 4 weeks lucky campers will engage in daily activities designed to stimulate their artistic side, improve brain development and also increase their mobility through various sporting activities. According to Managing Director of Funland Jamaica, Paula Pinnock, “Our vision for our Summer Fun program is to give our children a screen free summer. After an entire academic year defined by on screen learning we believe that our children need a break. They need to be able to engage in sports and art and mental activities outside of their computers and tablets. Hosting a summer program at one of the most fun places in Kingston will be a great experience for them and we are looking forward to it.”

Summer Fun is set to begin on July 5TH from Monday- Friday and will run for four weeks until July 30th from 9am-1pm. Unlike most camps that end on Thursday the Summer Fun program will extend to Fridays with parents having the option to do “drop ins” for those who are looking for a one day activity on Fridays. Parents will also have the option to pay for an extended day allowing them the flexibility of picking up their children at 5pm.

“What’s great about Summer Fun is that it is happening in a place that is already designed to entertain children. On Fridays they will be able to truly enjoy the park, ride on the train and even go on nature tours. We also have a food concessionary on location so parents won’t have to worry about getting lunch ready in the mornings. Food can be purchased on location”. Paula Pinnock, Managing Director of Funland Jamaica. Camp spaces are limited as groups will be no bigger than 10 children, so parents are encouraged to register to secure their space.

For those interested in registering for Summer Fun they can email funlandja@gmail.com or call 876-865-9881 for more information. Funland Jamaica is located inside Hope Gardens at the former Coconut Park and is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. They also do birthday parties and group bookings any day of the week.
