Monsters roaming West Rural St Andrew

ACCORDING TO the good book, The Holy Bible: ‘This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall

come.’ (2 Timothy 3:1). Surely, there is no doubt that we are living in the ‘last days’. It would appear that all the hard work of the security forces is going in vain.

We truly need Jesus as a nation. God can solve our problems if we turn from our wicked ways. These ‘monsters’ that are roaming West Rural St Andrew are wreaking havoc.

The recent gruesome murder of a little girl in the Sterling Castle community has revealed many things.

It was disclosed by the police and Member of Parliament Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn that young children have been raped, molested and sexually assaulted by men.

According to reports, 22 children were molested and raped in 2018, and five reported case of rape in 2019. Reports from the citizens within Sterling Castle and the other environs suggested that there are not enough police deployed throughout the various communities within the constituency.

One caller stated that there are only 15 police, with only one police vehicle, to serve the areas of Rock Hall, Padmore, Sterling Castle, Red Hills and other neighbouring communities.

With these realities, the fight against crime in those communities is outweighed by those ‘monsters’, who are imposing themselves on our children.

As moral and sensitive people, we need to be more proactive, rather than reactive. Most times our police are reactive than proactive. So as citizens, we all need to be the eyes, wide open for the safety of our children.

The legislators of this land must formulate tougher sentences for these ‘monsters’. ALRICK DAVIS Justice of the Peace
