Mccormick lets you “Add flavour, NOT SALT”

-

Chas. E. Ramson Limited strongly supports the global campaign for Salt Awareness week 2021. As we continue to adhere to the restrictions associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, we urge persons to be more conscious of ingredients as you prepare more meals at home. It is best to be guided by the nutritional facts on labels and be on the lookout for sodium content.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) notes that “The reduction of salt/sodium consumption is one of the most costeffective interventions to prevent hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.” Fast foods are riddled with enormous amounts of salts. By choosing to prepare the same type of meals at home, you can opt to make them healthier with simple ingredient switches, resulting in a more flavourful meal and less salt. Let’s look at two examples.

You can decide to have a pizza night at home, where you substitute using iodized salt when making the dough and/or sauce for Morton’s Lite Salt, or the Morton’s

Sea Salt. This way you get the same delicious taste with less guilt. Not a pizza fan? No problem, you can try making a pasta.

Instead of boiling the pasta in heavily salted water, you can use the

Kitchen

Basics

Unsalted

Vegetable Stock or the

Kitchen Basics Unsalted

Chicken Stock which will not only add great flavour, but significantly reduce your salt intake.

Then, when making your sauce, you can use the Perfect Pinch Garlic and Herb Salt Free Seasoning instead of a traditional salt based all-purpose seasoning to bring your flavours together. See? There are more ways to add flavour to homecooked meals than using a big pinch of salt, which is a sentiment shared by

The World Action on Salt, Sugar and Health (WASSH).

In addition to using salt free/less sodium options, you can also look at replacing salt and all-purpose seasonings with a myriad of herbs and spices. Mccormick offers a wide variety of all natural, no MSG herbs and spices such as, Oregano, Paprika and Basil, to name a few, that are great for adding unique, guilt free flavour to your meals.

Let’s all make an effort to lead a healthier lifestyle. A healthy meal starts with quality ingredients and the Mccormick line which includes Lawry’s, Kitchen Basics and Morton’s all have salt free or less sodium options that are essential to your kitchen cupboard.
