Why did ‘The Mooch’ meet with an Israeli Supreme Court justice?

When colorful former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci tweeted a photo of himself with former Supreme Court justice Dalia Dorner last week, many people were baffled.

“With former Israeli Supreme Court Justice Dalia Dorner last night @huntandfishnyc. What an absolutely amazing woman. Google her,” Scaramucci tweeted.

A man fired after only 10 days on the job for making lewd comments about his coworkers – by an American president who has famously made vulgar comments – and an internationally-respected jurist and former presidential candidate? What are they doing together?

Dorner cleared things up on Sunday, in an interview with Army Radio, in which she said she was on vacation in New York and went to a restaurant, of which Scaramucci happens to be partial owner.

“He was introduced to me, and he was very excited, and we had a conversation,” Dorner recounted.

Dorner described Scaramucci as being “very bitter” about how his tenure as US President Donald Trump’s communications director abruptly ended.

“President Trump promised to support him, but that didn’t happen, as we all know,” she said.

During his first week on the job, Scaramucci described then-senior adviser to the president Steve Bannon as performing auto-fellatio in a phone conversation with New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza, among other comments that Lizza recorded and reported, which eventually led to Scaramucci’s ouster.

Scaramucci characterized the incident to Dorner as a betrayal by a friend, which Lizza has denied, saying he didn’t know Scaramucci personally.

According to Dorner, Scaramucci said “the place in which he was raised influenced his language, and in a totally private conversation with a friend, also of Italian origin, he went a little wild, and the so-called friend recorded him.”

The retired judge said she was surprised by Scaramucci’s intelligence.

“He is a sort of fulfillment of the American dream,” Dorner said. “He grew up in a hardscrabble home of Italian origin, with no books in it, and with the influence of a Jewish family whose son was his friend, he got into Harvard.”

Dorner also said Scaramucci, who was a Wall Street financier and host of TV finance shows before working with the Trump campaign in 2016, told her about a helicopter tour of Israel he took with former ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor.

Asked why Scaramucci called her an “amazing woman,” Dorner said: “I don’t know why. I was patient and listened to him; that’s all.”
